Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.

But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Tragedy in a School Yard

Today a psychopath attacked school children at their school with murderous intent.

He wounded 22, but there were no fatalities.

This happened in China, where, due to the lack of readily available guns, he had to use a knife.

It's still a huge tragedy, but the parents of these children will be seeing them in recovery rooms, not morgues.

I am not making this up. Google it.

Also note, you almost never read about drive-by knifings, or innocents getting caught in the cross-stabbing.

Yes, people kill people. Guns simply make it a whole lot quicker, easier, more efficient and indiscriminate.

It's why we don't go to war wielding swords.

You are making too much sense, which is why nobody will listen. The only people who get listened to by our society today are the most lunatic and extreme crazies. The same kind of people who do school shootings are running the asylum. Charlie Manson if born today would be a respected NRA spokesperson, not in jail. He was just ahead of his time, I guess.

Actually, if Manson were alive, he'd be a Republican congressman.

Or a Fox News commentator.

Uhm, Charlie Manson is still quite alive in Corcoran State Prison thank you very much. I was thinking that if he'd been born in, say, 1964 rather than 1934, he'd be just the right age to be the typical right-wing Republican spokesperson...

Oh.

Sorry.

I never was any good a keeping track of murderous psychopaths.

Good to know he's alive and well and living in lock up.

I have a bit of a special reason to track Manson's fate, since he was residing in one of my favorite places at the time that he ordered the killings. It still annoys me to no end that various creepy people who worship the murderous maniac keep showing up there from time to time to memorialize him (so to speak). Gah!

Which just goes to show that if Charlie Manson would have been born in 1964, he would have been Ann Coulter at the very least...

There is so much bloodshed everywhere ... I don't know what people gain from these ... why can't everyone live in peace?

Green Spec -

Most of the time the answer is greed.

Most of the rest - revenge.

But not always. Here, you would have to understand what moves the mind of a violent psychopath.

To reach that understanding would not be worth the voygage through hell to get there.
