Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.

But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Sunday Music Blogging

Back to Bach.

The prelude to Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 is an intensely emotional piece of music.  I first heard it on guitar, and am partial to that instrument.  Here are two interpretations.  First, Mischa Maisky on cello, then  Li Jie on guitar.   Which do you prefer?

I enjoy Bach's cello pieces as well (have a CD of yo yo mama doin' em)--this one of the more well known (and accessible as far as Bach goes). The Fifth suite my fave--brooding, dark, sort of gothic, like some old prussian graveyard in winter. Ja.

The Cello works, tho' nice gtar playin' by the youngster.

Love them both but I'm partial to the cello...for this particular piece of music, it seems to convey the passion like it was meant to be experienced.
