This should be the best time of life, but . . . (instead, we are become flaming squid huggers)
Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.
But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Yeppers, I keep telling folks that what Obama is proposing is a strange conglomeration of the German system (which has public sickness funds and private insurers largely financed by employer contributions) and the Swiss system (which has insurers financed by individual rate-payers), but instead people keep bringing up Canada and Britain. Apparently in the right-wing universe, the only other nations that exist are Canada and Britain, and Germany and Switzerland simply aren't on the maps anywhere. Pathetic.

Right wingers are liars. That sounds like ad hominem, but they've worked hard to earn it. Which brings to mind again the fundamental question of why people lie. Simple answer - the truth doesn't serve their purposes.
