This should be the best time of life, but . . . (instead, we are become flaming squid huggers)
Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.
But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Real Household Median Income: Optimism vs. Pessimism
You can probably guess that I'm not in the optimism camp.
Y'know, as someone in the top 10% income-wise, it annoys me greatly that my fellow lucky duckys don't see the wisdom of making sure that the lower classes get redistributed sufficient money for plenty of bread and circuses to keep them fat and happy. The easiest way to redistribute would be to raise the minimum wage, $15/hour sounds like it'd work. Folks like McDonalds would have to raise their prices, but frankly I'd have no problems paying $10 for a McDonald's meal if it meant that their employees were making $15/hour and their hamburgers were made of real meat rather than pink slime. Actually, I already do that, because I don't eat at McDonald's, I eat at In'n'Out, where average employee pay is *already* averaging $15/hour and the burgers are made of real meat... and the price tag at the checkout counter comes close to $10 but (shrug). It's worth it.
But apparently I'm one of the few in my income bracket who actually cares about his neck. I like my neck. It connects my head to my body. I'd like it to *continue* connecting my head to my body. Making sure the lower classes have an okay time of things is one way to make sure that continues happening. Just sayin'.
