Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.

But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Nice technique--and tune as well, though the OtR bridge always reminds me of a traffic jam like around Pico or somethin."

Miss Judy G. could belt it out, eh--she did jazz (or swing I guess) 'fore she went into flicks, and ho-wood. Show biz tragedy 101. Her take on Stomping at the Savoy quite wild (recorded when she was 14 or so)--as was the band (Artie Shaw maybe. Shaw did her wrong, ah've heard--he was a schmendrick, but talented arranger).

Lot's of those old band leaders were - let's just say not very nice.

Stan Kenton was the exception. Everybody loved him.

The magic words..."Stan Kenton." I was introduced to his work by my roommate's boyfriend. I have the CD of "Standards in Silhouette" on my desk in the office. It's nice to learn that he was a good man.

Kitty -
SiS is great. But it's only one facet of Kenton's sound. Check my other Sunday Music Blog entries, and the Kenton videos on YouTube.

Cheers!
