Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.

But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Huntsman Endorses Romney

John Huntsman is throwing in the towel, after consistently polling in the low single digits.  (Eschewing an obvious joke here.)

Now he endorses Mitt the Ripper.   Propitious flip-flop?  You be the judge.

"For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly."

Thus wrote Ben Franklin in a letter to his daughter dated January 26, 1784. Old Ben regarded the wild turkey as "a true native American" and the bald eagle as an ignoble snatch-thief who purloins fish from honest wage-earning ospreys. In retrospect, had the choice of national bird been reversed, it is hard to imagine a plump gobbler with cranberries and yams ensconced on our currency. Perhaps the predatory snatch-thief bird is the most apt symbol after all.

Recalling a phrase from former Offense Secretary Donald Krumsfeld, “When you nominate a corporatist whore for president, you go with the smarmy you have, not the smarmy you want.”
