This week my step-son
Traveled far around the world
To Afghanistan
Traveled far around the world
To Afghanistan
I didn't read Jenn's entry, which now seems especially poignant, before composing this.
This should be the best time of life, but . . . (instead, we are become flaming squid huggers)
Look: I am eager to learn stuff I don't know--which requires actively courting and posting smart disagreement.
But as you will understand, I don't like to post things that mischaracterize and are aimed to mislead.

Not a trip for pleasure, I'm sure. May he stay safe...
Thank you, my friend.

Wow, sending safe thoughts his way, and good thoughts to you both!!
It was indeed as though I read your mind, wasn't it!
along with the Haiku being appreciated, just know that me and mine appreciate and remember all the young women and men that keep this country free and I pray those lacking in the same appreciation acquire it before it is too late!
Wonderful reading this week!

JZB:
You and your family are never far from my thoughts. You are ten times more articulate than I will ever be, and your words across the blogosphere ring clear, loud, and bright.
It sounds trite, but I can't think of a better way to say it: My best wishes to your step-son; may he return safely home.
I'm fighting a little battle of my own at present. It's called "multiple organ failure", and I'm in good (medical) hands.
My crossword days are pretty much behind me, but I still peek in at the CC blog from time to time.
I will forward you, within the week, links to a couple blogs that may be of interest to you and may not yet be on your radar screen.
Be well, stay brave, & keep up the tremendous work you do.
